Anyone for Venice? A competition

A local patron of the Harleston Gallery (who wishes to remain anonymous) has offered the Harleston & Waveney Art Trail a magnificent competition prize, to coincide with HWAT 2011.

The Prize: up to a four-night stay for two people at a 4-Star hotel in the centre of glorious Venice, including return flights. Final flexible details subject to season choice. The prize also includes a Euro cash sum towards expenses.

Whether travelling to Venice for the first time, or as a regular visitor, it’s a golden opportunity to marvel at the views and the wonderful art.

To enter the competition, just pick up an entry form from the Harleston Gallery or from any of the Artists’ Studios during the 2011 Art Trail.

Welcome to the Harleston & Waveney Art Trail 2011

Welcome to the 7th annual Harleston & Waveney Art Trail, or HWAT!

25th-26th June, 2nd-3rd July & 9th-10th July 2011

Each summer we open our art studios to the public for three consecutive weekends. The Harleston & Waveney Art Trail (HWAT) is now an established summer event in the region. Our artists work in a range of media, including: drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, ceramics, glass, metalwork, mosaics, garden design, textiles and photography. Read more about all the participating artists in 2011.

Special guest artists are also invited to join us each year. This year the two guest artists are Jazz Green & Jayne Ivimey.

Jazz Green is welcomed back as a guest artist of HWAT. Jazz Green’s distinctive mixed media paintings are textural and abstract, inspired by small elements of nature and the rural environment, in the intricate patinas of weathered, time-worn surfaces & structures in states of decay.

Jayne Ivimey, our second guest artist, is a widely exhibited local artist but has spent the last four years many miles away in New Zealand. While there, an interest in natural history and conservation enabled her to develop ideas about the environment. Alongside her paintings inspired by oceans, birds and trees she has also made a series of ‘resin notes’ capturing the landscape character of New Zealand in found objects set in transparent blocks.

Jazz Green & Jayne Ivimey will be showing a selection of their work exclusively at the spacious Harleston Gallery. The exhibition runs from Saturday 18th June to Monday 11th July 2011.
