Britten’s Birthday Bonanza exhibition at Aldeburgh Gallery

New artwork from three HWAT artists, Sara Johnson, Gill Levin and Chris Mound, will feature in a forthcoming art exhibition at the Aldeburgh Gallery, entitled Britten’s Birthday Bonanza, to coincide with the Britten Centenary celebrations this weekend. The internationally acclaimed British composer Benjamin Britten was born on November 22nd 1913 in Lowestoft, and later co-founded the now famous Aldeburgh Music Festival in 1948 with his partner Peter Pears. Sara Johnson will be showing new paintings inspired by the unique atmosphere of the Alde estuary & coastal area so beloved by Britten, alongside oil paintings by Gill Levin and hand printed woodcuts by Chris MoundBritten’s Birthday Bonanza will also include small paintings and other selected artworks, including prints, ceramics and textiles, by many of the artists associated with the HWAT collective: Jane Callender, Caryl Challis, Noelle Francis, Alan Frewin, Hannah Giffard, Denise Goddard, Christina Greathead, Jazz Green, Sue Laughlin, Rose MartinLin Patterson, Tim Summerson, Dinny Turner and Andrew Vessey.

JANE CALLENDER : Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society

HWAT artist Jane Callender is participating in Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society’s (NCCS) annual exhibition, Inspired at The Hostry, Norwich Cathedral. The Inspired exhibition runs from Friday 22nd November to Sunday 1st December 2013, open Monday – Saturday 9.30am – 4.30pm, Sunday 12 – 3pm.

Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society (NCCS) was founded in 1972 and is the leading Norfolk association of designer-makers. NCCS President, Lady Walpole will officially open the Inspired exhibition on Friday 22nd November, 6.00 – 8.00 pm. The preview evening is also an opportunity to ‘meet the makers’. The range of crafts include: Ceramics, Furniture, Glass, Jewellery, Calligraphy, Letter Carving & Sculpture, Paper Making, Textiles and Woodturning.
