Hannah Giffard

I work in oils to depict sheep, hares and birds in a Norfolk landscape. I love movement and try to evoke this in the curve of the horizon or the animals racing across fields. I try to evoke the atmosphere of the seasons, from sheep in a snow storm, to hares racing through fields of green barley. I have two shaggy grey Bedlington dogs of my own and will be painting them running along beaches this summer.

I studied Fine Art and Printmaking at Bower Ashton School of Art and Norwich School of Art. After leaving college, I started writing and illustrating children’s books including the Red Fox books. Later I developed and co-produced a new animation series for children, called ‘Pablo the Little Red Fox’. This animation won us a BAFTA and was shown in 52 countries world wide, including the BBC. Clips of the animation can be found on Youtube. I was later commissioned to design and create the images for the walls of the Jenny Lind children’s ward in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. You can also find some of my paintings on cards published by Green Pebble. I continue to paint and create children’s animation ideas from my studio in Norfolk.

Please note: Hannah Giffard is taking a sabbatical from HWAT in 2016, and her art studio will not be open to the public during the Art Trail.
