New work this year includes drawing and painting inspired by walks along the quiet back lanes of the Waveney Valley. I have recently exhibited some of my new work at The Old Kings Head in Brockdish, including part of a series of drawings made on the banks of the river Waveney at Earsham.
Growing up in a household immersed in the pottery making process, my love of drawing was always encouraged. I graduated from Dartington College of Arts in 1987, with a diploma in Art and Design in the Social Contexts and Sheffield City Polytechnic in 1990 with a Fine Art Painting honours degree. I trained as a teacher in the early 1990s while working towards a qualification in Art Psychotherapy. I have been working as an art therapist for 20 years while developing my art making. Studying for an MA Res in Art Psychotherapy in 2012 rekindled my love of life drawing and expressive mark-making.
I joined the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail in 2014. I paint, draw, print, experiment and show work in my small garden studio summer house; the garden has been carefully landscaped to maximise space and light for the studio.
