I like to work in a variety of styles with whichever materials I can lay my hands on. Recently, I’ve been focusing on a series of fantasy-themed acrylic paintings that I’m also basing a collection of jewellery on.
I put my love of colour and pattern to good use in multi-layered mixed media pieces, exploring themes of narrative and symbolism. Some of these adventures have translated into commissions like wedding invitations and tattoo designs, which have been great fun to create.
In addition to traditional media, I also create digital illustrations using an iPad. These contemporary creations are quite different to the rest of my work, utilising space and simplicity. I like to think they echo my passion for comic book art and graphic novels.
In all my projects I aim to keep learning and having fun creating imagery that will capture the imagination.
Raised by a textile designer and a children’s animator, Hatty was destined to follow in their creative footsteps. Having specialised in printmaking in her Art Foundation year at Maidstone UCA, Hatty graduated from Bath School of Art and Design in 2013 with a 2:1 in Graphic Communications BA(Hons). Since then she’s been working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. She had her debut solo exhibition ‘Curiouser Tales’ in 2014 at the Fisher Theatre, Bungay.
Hatty officially joined Harleston & Waveney Art Trail Collective last year. 2017 will be her second Open Studios and the first time she has shown off her new garden studio.
