Isobel Auker – Wingfield Barns Only in 2024 (NB. except Saturday 25th when venue closed due to private event)

STATEMENT
I combine and manipulate natural fibres, mainly merino wool and silk, by dyeing, stitching, knitting and felting, to construct garments and wall hangings. I am interested in the relationship between body shape and tailoring, and how pattern and form enhance body movement. My inspiration is found in elemental timeless patterns, such as the rhythmic markings of shells and bird feathers, and in layers of geological time.

BIOGRAPHY
I studied textiles at Goldsmith’s School of Art in the sixties, specialising in embroidery and printing, and went on to teach in colleges in London, until moving to Norfolk in 1979. I then set up a business designing Knitwear, both for my own label, and freelance. I am now exploring and enjoying making felt in all its forms.
