Journeys and life-lines are themes that re-occur frequently in my work. Recent paintings recall journeys through the local landscape; sometimes the view point is from overhead, like a bird, with the land shapes outlined by hedge and ditch, and sometimes from a human level, with furrows, field edges and tracks leading the eye to the far horizon. Other work hints at the life journeys that have created the distinctive features of older faces, or connect to my own family history of migration.
I am primarily a painter in acrylics who incorporates a variety of media including print techniques, collage, pastels, charcoal and ink. I completed the excellent Access to Art and Design course at City College Norwich in 2011 and printmaking diploma at Curwen Print Study Centre in 2012, as well as many short courses and summer schools.
