Nick Holmes

I graduated from Maidstone College of Art in 1983 with a degree in fine art printmaking, and worked as a scenic painter and scenic artist at the BBC and then freelance in the film and TV industry and since 2015 mostly in theatre I have endeavoured to continue with my own practice as an artist at the same time, I moved to Harleston from London in 2008.

Since last taking part in the art trail in 2019 I have been working  full time as a scenic artist in the theatre industry, painting sets for a wide range of productions from Hamilton to opera sets for Glyndebourne.

In the meantime I have designed and built a new studio replacing the old 1960’s garage I was using before, and have now continued with my own work in collage, printmaking, painting and mixed media, based around abstract images with an interest in texture shape and landscape.

The new studio was completed last year and I have only really been back in there for the last six months, working on some new personal projects and also prep work and sampling for my work as a scenic artist.

Whilst this year will be a bit of a work in progress I feel the Art Trail is a great way to open up and get feed back from visitors.
